Prerequisites
• Strong writing skills
• Basic computer skills, especially word processing at the
intermediate level
• Strong knowledge of current grammar, punctuation, and usage
Certification Requirements
Students must take a total of 90 hours of classes to qualify for
the certificate. All 90 hours must be taken at BCC and must include:
• Professional Proofreading and Editing I (unless applied
to the Technical Communication Certificate) (15 hours)
• Professional Proofreading and Editing II (15 hours)
• A minimum of 30 hours chosen from the classes below
• 30 hours of electives chosen from relevant classes
• A portfolio, which will be developed as part of the program
