Prerequisites
• Strong computer skills
• Basic computer skills, especially word processing
at the intermediate level
• Some background in science, preferably biology
or chemistry
Certification Requirements
Students must take a total of 120 hours of classes to
qualify for the certificate. All 120 hours must be taken
at BCC and must include:
• 90 hours from Core Courses in the Technical Writing
and Communication curriculum
• 30 hours from the classes below
• A professional portfolio with writing samples
