Graphic
artists and designers with a range of technical, drawing and design
skills are valuable members of work teams in a variety of industries.
Many artists have also discovered the joys of freelance design and
graphic development work.
At BCC Continuing Education, the Graphic Design Certificate Program
provides students the opportunity to discover courses and skills-building
that fit their career objectives in graphic art design, multimedia
development, and visual communications.
The certificate program places emphasis on drawing and painting,
design principles, page layout, photo treatment and digital image
enhancement, illustration, digital pre-press skills, and development
of a technical portfolio. In addition, students have the opportunity
to complete elective courses focused on various visual media presentation
skills from web design to digital photography.
Designed to be completed in about a year on a part-time basis,
the full certificate includes 169 hours of required courses, plus
a minimum of 35 hours of elective courses. Prerequisites are an
aptitude for art and design and basic computer skills. The program
should be completed in no more than 24 months.
This program has been designed in cooperation with graphic design
