The Washington Customized Training Program has recently been enacted into law. This program provides businesses the opportunity to invest in their most valuable asset for economic growth – a trained and educated workforce.

Beginning summer of 2006, businesses expanding in or re-locating to Washington state are eligible for this new program that assists with the up-front costs of customized training for employees. In addition, participating businesses will receive a business and occupation (B&O) tax credit for 50% of the cost of training.

Some of the services available through the Washington Customized Training Program include:

• Technical skills training
• Job related instruction
• Basic education and skills, including English language for non-native speakers
• Skills assessment, testing and evaluation for training outcomes
• Training equipment, materials, facilities and supplies
